Susanne Arrhenius was born in Stockholm, Sweden and was raised near the shores of southern California. She has a career in biology, earning a PhD focused on tropical evolutionary biology and chemical ecology of plants. She has specialized in market forecasts that relate sensory data to the chemistry of color, flavor and fragrance. As in the discipline of ecology, her poetry seeks to understand the vital connections between plants and animals, including humans, and the world around them.
Her writing has flourished over the past several years living in Sonoma with her husband and children, and her poetry has recently appeared in the Press Democrat.
